Dale Goetz Funeral

September 9, 2010

The funeral is today. South Dakota governor Mike Rounds has asked for flags to fly at half mast in his honor. Dale served as pastor in White, SD before becoming a chaplain. May the Lord grant His grace to Christy and the children and Dale’s mother. We here at Central are praying for Christ to be glorified even in this. Dale’s body will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 2:30 today. Tributes to Dale continue to appear on the internet. See this one in the Baptist Bulletin. Read Kevin Bauder’s thoughts on the funeral here.

Dale was our chaplain in the 80th Ordnance Battalion at Fort Lewis and was an exceptional man and chaplain. I was just thinking of him a few days ago….a ethical and moral man who will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those who have known this great Soldier.

I grew up with Dale in Hood River, OR and he taught me a lot about things as we played sports together. He was a few years older, and his dad was our coach. Haven’t seen him in so many years, but the sadness I feel for his loss and for his family hits hard. It has been wonderful to read so many great thoughts and accounts of Dale’s ministry with others over the years. Grace and peace to his family.
