And I Thought He Was from Germany
December 17, 2009
In the middle of this busy time of the semester when research papers and final exams are crowding my desk waiting to be graded, I enjoy a good laugh whenever I can find it. In the middle of a Greek exegesis paper I stumbled across this gem, unintentionally produced by a student’s tired mind and fingers: Martian Luther.
You know, I always figured there was something unique about Luther and, now, several hundred years later, one of my students has unwittingly revealed the truth. Luther was an alien from Mars!
I appreciate God’s blessing of humor even in the midst of intensely hectic days.

And just think, your student probably used spell check!
I had a student who discussed the ethical implications of Rahab lying to save the pies.
Dr. Pratt, I heard through the grapevine that the student in question had a bet going with his fellow students to the effect that if you actually read the paper and caught the error he would take you–no, the entire seminary faculty–out to Fogo de Chao. Mark
Did the bet include dinner for the PhD students who come in January???
